Davis Kennels, located in Minter, Alabama, is owned and operated by Colvin and
Mazie Davis. Colvin has had bird dogs as far back as he can remember, growing
up hunting quail with his father. He started on his trek of training dogs for
the public as a teenager making his first trip to the Canadian prairies in the mid
sixties. His education was further enhanced during these years by his mentor,
John S. Gates. Davis established his own summer camp in Broomhill, Manitoba
in 1983. Mazie, his wife of 34 years, works with him, training dogs and scouting
their string of field trial all-age contenders.
Colvin and Mazie have built a reputation of getting the most out of every dog in
their kennel. Personal hunting dogs or field trial contenders alike, their goal is
developing each dog to the best it can be. Their success is attributed to hard
work, great owners and great admiration and respect for the dogs and the sport
of field trialing.
